Multicultural Student Affairs (MSA) held a block party at Hach Hall on April 24. Food trucks, including Macubana and Carlos Quesadillas, were featured at the event. Inside Hach Hall was a DJ and space for students to eat and enjoy the music.
There were many different food options provided at the event this year. Alex Young, a junior studying computer science and a member of the MSA working the event, shared his favorite aspects of the event.
“It’s a really chill time,” Young said. “Inside, we actually have a DJ and tons of board games and things like that. It is meant to just be a fun social event for anyone and everyone.”
Selorm Ako, a junior studying electrical engineering, shared his thoughts on the event and MSA.
“Multicultural Student Affairs is a place I feel like you stand out a little bit less,” Ako said. “Coming to the block party is a good way to connect with a lot of people.”
Many students were most excited to connect with friends and enjoy the food provided.
“I don’t wanna say the food, but it gotta be the food, also just hanging out with friends,” Ako said. “That’s why I came in the first place. Just to have a good time.”
Due to the possible rain, the event was moved from Brookside Park to Hach Hall. They relocated the DJ inside so students could enjoy the party despite the rain.
The annual block party creates a space for students to celebrate closing up the semester, meet with friends, and unwind a bit before the stress of finals week kicks in.
