How potent is Baylor’s offense?

Freshman wide receiver Allen Lazard set career highs in receptions — five — and yards — 53 — during the Cy-Hawk Series game against Iowa on Sept. 13 in Iowa City.

The No. 7 Baylor Bears (3-0, 0-0 Big 12) have one of the nation’s most potent offenses and the Cyclones will likely require near-perfect games from both the offense and defense to pull off a win. Here are five stats to illustrate Baylor’s offensive dominance:

  • Iowa State has scored 60 points only nine times in school history (1,170 games). Baylor has scored 60 points eight times in the last 16 games.
  • Iowa State’s worst loss in school history came at the hands of Baylor last season, a 71-7 thrashing. The Cyclones haven’t scored 70 or more points since 1906.
  • Iowa State’s offense scored 298 points in 12 games last season. Baylor has already scored 178 points in three games this season and are on pace to score more than 700.
  • Baylor averages more passing yards per game (416.0) than Iowa State’s entire offense (303.0).
  • Baylor’s 59.3 points per game this season nearly matches Iowa State’s total points scored this season with 62.

Iowa State will take on Baylor at 7:20 p.m. on Sept. 27 at Jack Trice Stadium.
