Three stars from Cyclone Hockey’s loss to Oklahoma

Senior Matt Cooper was integral in the Cyclone Hockey victory by only allowing one score. Cooper went 37-for-38 in total saves for the game. The Cyclones defeated the Oklahoma Sooners 2-1 on Sept. 20 to tie the series.

Iowa State lost its ACHA opener against Oklahoma 3-1 Sept. 19 at the Ames/ISU Ice Arena. Here are the three stars from the game.

1. Darrell Boldon, Oklahoma forward: Boldon finished a rebound for the Sooners’ second goal in the game. He scored one more on the power play in the third period to put Oklahoma up 3-1.

2. Tyler Jones, Oklahoma forward: Jones scored the first goal of the game from a sharp angle on a power play. He also tacked on a late assist in the second period for his second point.

3. Colin Fernandes, Oklahoma goaltender: Fernandes held the Cyclones to one goal while saving 30 of the 31 shots he faced.
