ISU soccer defeats Iowa in Cy-Hawk Series

ISU soccer was able to find the back of the net twice in the second half and took a 2-1 win over rival Iowa on Sept. 5 in the first game of the annual Cy-Hawk Series.

The Hawkeyes started off scoring a goal in the 23rd minute. The remainder of the first half was a scoreless affair.

Iowa State was able to hit home an equalizer in the 56th minute on a goal by Hayley Womack off a Haley Albert assist.

The Cyclones took the lead in the 75th minute on an Alyssa Williamson goal, assisted by Kaley Nieters.

The Hawkeyes pressured the Cyclone defense the rest of the game but was unable to score an equalizer.

The Cyclones improve their record to 3-2 while Iowa falls to 4-1 on the season. Iowa State will be back in action Sept. 7 as it takes on the North Dakota State Bison.
