ISU basketball prepares to host Hilton Madness

The crowd atmosphere is a main reason why Hilton Coliseum makes the top-10 college basketball arenas list. Ever since 1971 when it first opened, Hilton Coliseum has had a high stature in college basketball.

The ISU men’s and women’s basketball teams will be hosting Hilton Madness at 6 p.m. Oct. 18.

The free event will open its doors at 5:30 p.m. with the event set to start with team introductions beginning at 6 p.m.

The event will include a 3-point shooting contest and a dunk contest as well as a viewing party to watch the ISU football team take on Texas in Austin, Texas at 7 p.m. The game will be displayed on the video boards at Hilton Madness.

At 7:30 p.m., players will be at Johnny’s in Hilton’s concourse signing autographs.

The event is similar to the popular “Midnight Madness” events which many schools take part in to celebrate the start of the team’s basketball practices.

Traditionally, events were at midnight on the first day the NCAA allowed practices to start, but teams have adapted to start on dates and times more suitable for fans to attend.
