The ISU volleyball team fell to the No. 13 Florida State Seminoles 3-0 Sunday at Hilton Coliseum. The loss came two days after the Cyclones were beaten by No. 3 Stanford, also in straight sets.

Florida State came on strong in the first set, taking an early 11-6 lead over the Cyclones. Unlike it did against Stanford, Iowa State came back to make it competitive by going on an 8-0 run to take a three point lead.

The Seminoles refused to go away as they came back to tie it at 19 before going on their own 6-2 run to take the first set.

That was as close as the Cyclones got to taking a set, as things began to break down on the offensive and defensive sides in the second and third sets.

Iowa State finished the match with an abysmal .033 hitting percentage, dwarfed by Florida State’s .298. The Cyclones also only tallied thee blocks to the Seminoles’ 14.

Iowa State returns to action on Sept. 4, when it hosts Omaha to kick off the annual Iowa State Challenge.
