Get motivated by a giraffe

Renae Meines

Motivating Giraffe is the creation of an Australian college student named Penny. With her colorful drawings, she responds to users with hope and encouragement – something we don’t see enough of on the internet. Penny shares her story:

“I’m not perfect. I’m currently dealing with depression and a worsening eating disorder that is playing havoc with my mind, which is a big part of why the giraffes started, as a cheerful hobby to occupy myself and possibly make me feel a little bit better. When I decided to share it with others to maybe make them feel better too, never did I expect it to get as big as it has or that it would touch so many people.

“I’m not a cute giraffe who goes around shooting happiness and love into the air wherever I go. Most of the time I’m just a girl who can’t leave the house. But somehow this cartoon giraffe has reached into me and pulled out all the hope and positivity that I thought had disappeared – this has become my outlet for the hope I am too scared to show or chase most of the time in the real world. It’s changed me in a way I never thought possible, and proved to me that beautiful things are real and amazing things happen every day.”

Motivating Giraffe is a simple & fun reminder to love life and treat others well. To follow more of Penny’s work, visit www.motivatinggiraffe.com.
