Iowa State captures 22 bids to NCAA West Preliminary Round

ISU track and field earned a combined 22 bids to the NCAA West Regionals, which will be held in Fayetteville, Ark., from May 29 through May 31.

For Iowa State, 15 women and six men will head to Arkansas to compete for a chance at the NCAA Championships.

The top 12 participants in each event will move on to compete for a national title June 11 to 14 in Eugene, Ore. 

Iowa State’s bids are headlined by junior Christina Hillman, the national indoor champion and Big 12 outdoor champion in the shot put.

Multiple Big 12 outdoor champion redshirt junior Katy Moen, who won both the 5,000- and 10,000-meter runs, will make the trip to Arkansas as well. 

Other notable attendees are junior Edward Kemboi, who won the men’s title in the 800-meter run at the Big 12 outdoor tournament, and his female counterpart, redshirt senior Ejiro Okoro, who won the same event on the women’s side.
