Nicole “Kidd” Blaskowsky had a season high 24 points as the Cyclones defeated the TCU Horned Frogs 71-49 in their Big 12 Conference opener to improve to 12-0 (1-0 Big 12), tied for the best start in program history.

The teams swapped leads throughout the first half before the Cyclones pulled away on an 8-0 run to end the half to lead 38-30. The Cyclones held the Horned Frogs to 19 points in the second half to pull way for a 22-point win, extending their streak of double-digit wins to 12 straight games.

Blaskowsky led all scorers and pulled down nine rebounds, while Hallie Christofferson finished with a double-double, grabbing 11 rebounds and scoring 10 points. Freshman Seanna Johnson finished just short of a double-double with 13 rebounds and nine points.

Nikki Moody also scored double-digits, putting up 13 points, including four 3-pointers. She gathered seven rebounds and dished out four assists as well.

The Cyclones struggled with turnovers for the first time this season, committing 19 and only forcing five. However, Iowa State dominated the boards, out-rebounding TCU 56-to-25.

The Cyclones also struggled shooting the ball, only hitting 37.5% of their shots. However, the Cyclones built off their 3-point hot streak and knocked down a season high 15 3-pointers after hitting 14 against William and Mary on Dec. 29.

The Cyclones will travel to Oklahoma to take on the No. 25 Sooners at 1 p.m. Sunday.
