Cyclone Hockey splits tough series with Robert Morris

Cyclone Hockey fell 2-1 to Central States Collegiate Hockey League rival Robert Morris on Saturday night, Nov. 9.
The No. 9 Cyclones (14-2-1, 6-2-0 CSCHL) were unable to put the No. 3 Robert Morris Eagles (11-1-1, 5-1 CSCHL) away on Saturday night at the Ames/ISU Ice Arena, as the Cyclones split this weekend’s two-games series with the Eagles.
Halfway through the first period in Saturday night’s game, the Eagles’ forward Christopher Cimoch was able to turn a stolen puck into a goal, putting the Eagles up 1-0.
The Cyclones responded late in the first with a goal of their own, as forward Jake Bruhn put the puck in the back of the with only 17 seconds left in the first. Bruhn’s goal tied the game 1-1 going into the second period.
In the second period, neither the Cyclones nor the Eagles were able to score. However, goalies on both sides were still kept busy, with goalie Matt Cooper stopping 15 of 15 shots on goal and the Eagles’ goalie stopping five of five shots on goal.
Robert Morris captured the lead in the third period with a goal by forward Rock Einersen. Einersen’s goal was enough to lead the Eagles to a 2-1 victory.
The Cyclones will face Minot State next weekend, Nov. 15 and 16, in a two-game series at the Ames/ISU Ice Arena.
