19-year-old Tyler Comstock of Boone, Iowa, was pronounced dead at Mary Greeley Medical Center around 11 a.m. Monday morning, following a fatal car chase with Ames Police.

Comstock had stolen his father’s Spring-Green Lawn Care truck after an argument at a work site on Melrose Avenue in Ames. After Comstock’s father reported the truck stolen to Ames police, police officers trailed the stolen vehicle onto Iowa State’s campus.

The chase ended on Central Campus when Comstock’s truck came to a rest south of MacKay Hall. Ames Police Officer Adam McPherson had fired six shots in Comstock’s direction before the truck came to a stop.

Two shots hit Comstock, one in the head and one chest.
