Wearing the right makeup to an interview or to a professional setting is key to making a good first impression. You want to avoid piling on mascara and eyeliner for a potential boss or supervisor. Here is a simple makeup look that is perfect for professional settings.

Face

Use your regular foundation. Make sure you are comfortable in how you look; if you do something completely different, you won’t feel like yourself. However, be sure to not “cake on” the foundation. Instead, keep things light, cover problem areas and set your foundation with a powder to keep your face oil free.

Brush a light coral cheek color to the apples of the cheeks. All you need is a little to brighten up your face and add some color. You want this look to be natural and put together. So stay away from bright pink blushes and anything containing glitter.

Eyes

Make sure to keep the eyes super simple. Heavy eyeliners can distract from your overall look. Use a neutral shadow trio or brown toned eye shadows to create a natural eye look.

Start with a base and spread the cream colored shadow across the entire lid. Next, apply a lighter brown shade all over the lid atop the base. Focus a darker brown in the corner of the lid, but be sure to blend the two browns together to avoid any hard lines.

Finally, accent your inner corner with a cream or white shade. Place this shadow under your brow bone too, which will make eyes appear brighter and more awake. If you are going to add eyeliner, go for a dark brown shade, which will look less harsh than a jet-black. To finish your eye look, add your favorite mascara. Be careful when applying your mascara to avoid clumpy lashes.

Lips

Adding a neutral lip color can tie your whole look together. Using a product like Maybelline’s Color Whispers, Revlon Lip Butters or a Revlon Balm Stain gives you color without feeling heavy. Also, products like these give you moisture along with their wash of color.
