Lazerfest 2013 Preview

Lazerfest, Des Moines radio station Lazer 103.3’s rock music festival, opens at 1 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2013. 

Lazerfest will be held at the Central Iowa Expo Center in Boone, Iowa, about a 15-minute drive away from Iowa State’s central campus. 

The 2013 line-up includes 14 bands on two stages. At 1:15 p.m., Fatal Addiction opens the Knoxville Raceway Stage, which will feature headliners Papa Roach, a California rock band known for their hit single “Last Resort,” and Sick Puppies, an Australian rock band known for their breakout single “All the Same.”

At 1:40 p.m., two-piece band Bloodnstuff opens the Meskwaki Stage, which will feature headliners Alice in Chains, a veteran rock band from Seattle, and Bush, a British rock band known for their hit single “Glycerine.”

Tickets are $60 at the gate and include the price of parking. According to Lazerfest’s website, “state fair” or “festival” style food concessions will be available, and soda, beer, and water will be available for purchase. Outside food, drinks, and alcohol will not be permitted inside Lazerfest. Upon entering the festival, re-admittance is not allowed without purchasing another ticket.

VIP ticket packages are also available for $150 per ticket. According to Lazerfest’s website, the VIP package includes parking, a steak dinner, five drink tickets, VIP restroom access, and access to a preferred area with risers. 

Lazerfest’s doors open at 1 p.m. and the last headliner is scheduled to begin playing at 10:30 p.m.
