Search on for person who shot, killed 1 outside Fort Knox building
April 4, 2013
Authorities continue to look for the person who killed an Army civilian employee in a parking lot outside a Fort Knox building — in a shooting that they said stemmed from a personal dispute.
The incident took place Wednesday afternoon outside the Fort Knox’s Human Resources Command headquarters in Kentucky.
It prompted officials to lock down the army post for an hour.
Chris Grey, a spokesman for the army’s Criminal Investigation Command, said agents were investigating the incident as “a personal incident and not a random act of violence.”
Pentagon officials briefed Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel who was “deeply concerned,” a senior Defense Department official said late Wednesday night.
Authorities withheld the name of the deceased until family members were notified.
They said he was an employee at the Human Resources Command, which handles army personnel issues.
But officials did not say whether the shooting was tied to his job.
