Royce White was able to join the Houston Rockets for training camp after missing the first week of camp to put in place a long-term plan for his anxiety issues.

White now has a plan in place with the Rockets to travel by bus to some games this season. White said this will help him cope with his anxiety, fear of flying and obsessive-compulsive disorder over the long term, according to the Associated Press.

The Rockets picked White with the 16th overall pick in the 2012 NBA Draft. After a record-breaking season at Iowa State — where he was the only player to lead his team in scoring, rebounds, assists and steals — NBA teams were still skeptical about his anxiety issues.

During the summer, White attended the rookie orientation in New York City, which the Rockets hoped would help him settle his anxiety. However, a few days before training camp, White contacted Houston via his agent, and they negotiated their arrangements.

“I’m excited,” White said to the Associated Press. “It’s a different plan than I’ve ever had going into a season. I’m happy that the Rockets are willing to work with me, and I’m excited to see what I can do under new circumstances.”
