The defending FIFA Women’s World Cup champions, the United States, has the opportunity to repeat as champions when they take on the Netherlands in the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup Championship on Sunday.

Kickoff is at 10 a.m. Central Standard Time Sunday at Stade De Lyon in Lyon, France, and will be televised on Fox.

In the World Cup, the United States and the Netherlands have been two of the best teams offensively as they both are in the top three in goals scored and both have only allowed their opponents to three goals.

The United States is first in goals scored out of 24 teams with 24 goals, 13 of which came in a game against Thailand and the Netherlands is third with 11 goals.

To get to the championship, the Netherlands beat Sweden 1-0 at Stade De Lyon.

The United States defeated England 2-1 in the semifinals to get to the championship.

The United States has two of the top three scorers in the World Cup as forward Alex Morgan is tied for first in goals scored with six goals and forward Megan Rapinoe is tied for third with five goals scored.

Against the Netherlands, the United States will face quite arguably their toughest test yet, as the Netherlands hasn’t had a team score against them in their last two games and haven’t let any of their other opponents score more than one goal.

Midfielder Sherida Spitse and forward Vivianne Miedema have been the Netherlands two best offensive weapons in the World Cup. Spitse leads all players in the World Cup in assists with four and Miedema leads the team in goals scored with three, which is tied for seventh among all the players in the World Cup.

The United States and the Netherlands have only played each other twice before, and the United States has won both of those games — the last came in 2016 with a 3-1 victory.
