First it was Shawn Johnson. Now, Gabby Douglas will have her shot to bring a gold medal back with the hometown popular coach Liang Chow by her side.

Douglas qualified for the U.S. Olympic team in gymnastics on Sunday. In the final round of the Olympic Trials, world champion Jordyn Wieber was leading.

But without fault and the help of coach Chow, Douglas was able to perform an exceptional floor routine and claim her automatic spot on the Olympic squad.

Douglas moved to Des Moines at the age of 14 from her hometown in Virginia in order to train with coach Chow.

Douglas is among other Iowans traveling to London for the Olympic Games, such as former Cyclone Lisa Uhl.
