Entrepreneur Showcase on Thursday
April 25, 2012
Innovation and the sharing of ideas will be the main focus at the College of Human Sciences’ Entrepreneurship Showcase from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on the main floor of LeBaron Hall on Thursday April 26.
Apparel, events and hospitality management students will presenting interactive business plans and consulting projects created in AESHM 474 and 574 in conjunction with the Ames Main Street Cultural District/ Ames Main Street Program. Other AESHM students will be pitching business ideas as well.
At the showcase, a panel comprised of industry professionals will judge each project and discuss them further with the students.
“They get some really feasible, usable feedback,” said Linda Neihm, an associate professor within the AESHM department who taught the class. “Hopefully that makes the business plan one step closer to reality.”
The judges will be grading on specific criteria to determine the winners for six different awards, each with multiple winners (1st place, 2nd place, etc.). The award ceremony will be the last half hour of the showcase, from 8 to 8:30 p.m.
“I think a lot of people would enjoy seeing the innovation and creativity that the students have put into these projects,” Niehm said. “It is open to the public.”
