Most may initially recognize Dia Frampton as the lead singer of “Meg & Dia,” which Frampton and her sister Meg started in 2004. Frampton went on to become a contestant and runner-up of NBC’s “The Voice” and was chosen to be a part of Blake Shelton’s team, with whom she will be touring soon.

Frampton’s first solo album provides listeners with a pop sound, yet it has a unique twist. Her voice is unlike any other, which gives a refreshing sound to pop music. Although fans of “Meg & Dia” were hoping for more of an edgier sound, Frampton decided to move forth with a bit more pop than expected, which new listeners seem to love and embrace and old listeners seem to disapprove of.

“Red” includes pop beats such as “Don’t Kick the Chair (feat. Kid Cudi)” and “Billy the Kid,” as well as slower tunes such as “I Will (feat. Blake Shelton)” and “Daniel.” This album gives a good variety of music for a first solo album. Those who are fans of Frampton may also enjoy her infamous cover songs that she uploads to YouTube such as “The Way I Am,” initially by Ingrid Michaelson, and “The Cave” by Mumford & Sons.

Overall, “Red” is a fun album that many will enjoy. If you’re looking for more from Frampton, be sure to check her out at the local M-Shop at 8 p.m. Sunday.
