Jon Stewart responds to Rick Sanchez comments

(CNN) — “The Daily Show” host Jon Stewart had a good laugh at Rick Sanchez’s expense this weekend, making light of the former CNN anchor’s recent departure over controversial comments he made about Jews and Stewart.
On Friday, CNN issued a statement that Sanchez — who said during a radio interview that Stewart is bigoted and made other statements about Jews and the media — was no longer with the company. The network thanked Sanchez for his years of service.
At the Night of Too Many Stars benefit in New York City on Saturday, host Stewart urged people to donate to autism education, but cautioned, “If you went on radio and said the Jews control the media … you may want to hold on to your money.”
However, Stewart did have a solution for Sanchez: “All he has to do is apologize to us,” he said, “and we’ll hire him back.”
Not to be outdone, David Letterman made a surprise cameo at the benefit, telling Stewart that he decided to stop by because he was in the neighborhood, “helping Rick Sanchez clean out his office.”
