Iowa State’s Lucca Staiger has been named to the A1 German National Team for the upcoming European Basketball Championships.

Staiger, a junior guard from Blaustein, Germany, played on the German under-20 national team this summer in the World University Games in Belgrade, Serbia, before receiving an invite to try out for the A1 team last month. He also played for Germany in the Munster Cup and Netherlands Tournament.

The guard led his U20 team in scoring at the University Games, scoring 13.4 points per game and shooting 38 percent from three-point range in the tournament.

Last season, Staiger scored 8.2 points per game for the Cyclones and converted on 74 three-point attempts, the seventh-best in school history.
