Iowa State’s Jordon Andreassen is in third place of the women’s pentathlon competition following day one at the Kansas Relays in Lawrence, Kan.

The freshman standout took first place in the high jump portion of the multi-event competition on her way to 2,856 points. The leader in the event is Arkansas State’s Amy Bowman who totaled 3,102 points through four events.

“We’re really happy with where Jordon is at after day one,” assistant coach Pete Herber said in a press release Thursday.

Herber also said Andreassen’s goal is 4,200 points, enough to qualify her for the USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

The competition will conclude on Friday with the 800-meter run, long jump, and javelin competitions.
