The ISU track team’s indoor season took off in front of a packed house at the Lied Recreation Athletic Center on Friday.

Led by throwers and runners alike, the Cyclones dominated the meet with 10 first-place finishers and 22 top-three efforts.

Luke Pinkelman and Zac Brouilette led the charge with first- and second-place efforts in the men’s shot put. Britta Christofferson was the winner of the women’s shot put competition.

Brouilette also won the men’s weight throw competition, followed by teammate Robbie Utterback in second place. Amy Waggoner finished second on the women’s side.

In running events, the Cyclones had nine top-three individual finishers, featuring a one-two finish in the men’s 3000-meter run, as well as a win in the women’s 4×300 relay.

Also on the women’s side, Monique Hawkins won the 300-meter run and Kianna Elahi won the 400-meter dash in record time for the meet.

Jenna Caffrey won the 60-meter hurdles.

Last year’s Holiday Preview champion in the 800-meter run, David Lantz, was the winner of the men’s 3,000, followed by fellow cross country teammate Richard Newton.

The next home meet for the Cyclones will be Jan. 23, when they host the ISU Open.
