Events: Iowa State recognizes Mental Health Awareness week

This week, Student Government is hosting a variety of events to raise awareness about mental health. These events discuss topics such as depression, anxiety, stress, personality disorders and eating disorders.

The week was kicked off on Monday with “Donuts and Depression.” During the event, Student Government handed out flyers on depression on campus and free Dunkin’ Donuts and ISU Dining Coffee.

On Tuesday, Student Government will host “Popcorn and Personality Disorders” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the entrance of Parks Library. During the event, flyers about personality disorders and free popcorn will be handed out.

“Destress and Learn about Stress” will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. in UDCC 136. The event will have two professional masseuses who will provide students with 10-minutes massages. Flyers with resources and Jimmy John’s sandwiches will be handed out.

To wrap up the week, “Eating Disorders and You” will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the entrance of Parks Library. KIND granola bars with notes asking students to be “Kind to yourself” and flyers will be handed out.
