Iowa State adds 2020 safety commitment

Iowa State football secured a commitment from safety Craig McDonald on Saturday. McDonald announced his decision on Twitter.

McDonald — part of the 2020 class — held offers from Dartmouth, Minnesota, Iowa, Purdue, Wisconsin and Iowa State, according to 247Sports.com.

The Minneapolis, Minnesota native sports a three-star composite rating from 247Sports.

Iowa State’s current roster situation is setup nicely for the next two seasons at safety with the junior trio of Jatairis Grant, Lawrence White and Greg Eisworth. The Cyclones also have sophomore Keonte Jones.

McDonald brings size to the unit with a 6-foot-2 frame and 190-pounds. The Iowa State commit is ranked No. 6 overall for Minnesota prospects, according to 247Sports.
