Cyclone gymnastics edges out Southern Utah

The no. 23 Iowa State gymnastics team faced off against the Southern Utah Thunderbirds Friday. The Cyclones edged out the Thunderbirds 195.375-195.250. After the win Friday, the Cyclones are now 6-3 on the season.
Uneven Bars:
Iowa State scored a 49.250 on the bar event. The Cyclones went back-to-back with scores of 9.900 from sophomore Laura Burns and senior Meaghan Stevers.

Balance Beam:
The Cyclones scored a 48.850 on the beam as a team, and Grace Woolford posted the highest score in the event with a 9.875. Senior Sydney Converse earned a high score of 9.750 as well.

Next Up:
The Cyclones will travel to St. Charles, Missouri, on February 15 at 2 p.m. The Cyclones will face three teams at the Mardi Gras Invitational. The teams include Southeast Missouri, Texas Woman’s University and Lindenwood.
The Cyclones have faced Lindenwood once this year already. The last time the two teams met, Iowa State scraped by with a win, 195.975-194.300.
