Iowa State men’s basketball may have just caught a break with the latest update on injured star forward Cameron Lard.

Cyclones coach Steve Prohm said the redshirt sophomore forward would be listed as ‘day-to-day’ following a right ankle injury, and that he would be a game-time decision for the Kansas State game on Saturday.

“Everything’s good, so it’s really just going to be day-to-day on pain toleration for him,” Prohm said of the injury. “I wouldn’t see him missing anything more than Saturday. I think by [Texas Tech] he’ll be able to be back.

“It’s nothing that we’re concerned about, so it’s really, the end of the day, an ankle sprain.”

The redshirt sophomore was injured at the end of the first half against Baylor on Tuesday night, walking off the court with the help of trainers and spending the second half on the sideline in a walking boot.

Prohm said on a teleconference Thursday that x-rays taken on Lard’s injured ankle came back negative, and Lard would undergo an MRI Thursday afternoon to see if there was any ligament damage. Those MRI results came back negative as well.

Lard has had an up-and-down season, spending the month of November suspended from the program for off-the-court reasons and seeing his playing time fluctuate after his return in December. Lard is averaging just 8.9 minutes per game in 10 appearances.
