Engineers take king, queen honors

Two engineering majors from Minnesota were crowned this year’s Homecoming king and queen Friday night.
Anh Nguyen, a senior in electrical engineering from Woodbury, Minn., and Troy Blizzard, a senior in construction engineering from Rochester, Minn., were crowned by 1995 Homecoming Queen Karlene Hunter at the Homecoming pep rally on central campus.
Nguyen is the vice president of the Senior Class Council, president of the Engineering Student Council and a member of Delta Zeta Sorority.
Blizzard has been involved with the Student Alumni Association, Engineer’s Week and he is a past president of FarmHouse Fraternity.
Other Homecoming finalists included Jenny Johannsen, Stephanie Carney Michaels, Michele Roth, Erin Walter, Ryan Borchett, Bryce Freeman, Devin Shepard and John Tannehill.
About 200 people attended the rally, which featured Iowa State basketball player Ha-Keem Abdel Khaliq as the evening’s emcee, Head Football Coach Dan McCarney, tailback Troy Davis, the ISU Marching Band, the pom squad, the cheer squad and the Yell-Like-Hell finalists.
