Iowa State received big news Sunday when it was announced the Cyclones will play in the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio, Texas, on Dec. 28. Iowa State will play Washington State (10-2, 7-2 Pac-12).

The Cyclones finished the regular season 8-4 (6-3 Big 12) and won seven of their final eight games to cap the regular season.

Last season, Iowa State played in the Liberty Bowl against Memphis and came away with a 21-20 victory. Before that, the Cyclones had not won a bowl game since 2009.

Iowa State is 4-9 overall in bowl games and has never won two bowl games in a row.
