Herman Quirmbach, Democrat for State Senate and Iowa State professor, has won his re-election against Libertarian candidate, Eric Cooper.

Quirmbach won (PERCENT OF THE VOTE.)

In the Senate, Quirmbach is a ranking member of the Education Committee and serves on Human Resources, Local Government and Ways & Means Committees.

Quirmbach ran his election on restoring funding to higher education that he said has been lacking in recent years under Republican control.

Quirmbach also opposes the privatization of Medicaid and supports increasing funding to mental healthcare programs in the state.
