The Iowa State men’s golf team is returning to the spring season by heading out to La Quinta, California, to play in a three-day event Monday through Wednesday in The Prestige.

The Cyclones are coming off of an 8th place finish out of 17 teams at the Arizona Intercollegiate on Jan. 27. Lachlan Barker is looking to stay hot coming off of a second-place finish in Arizona and a 3 round score of 211 (70-70-71).

Last year, Iowa State finished 9th out of 16 teams at The Prestige. The top finishers for Iowa State were Tripp Kinney who finished in a tie for 14th, and Ricky Costello, finishing one stroke behind Kinney in a tie for 17th.

At last year’s event, the team got off to a bit of a shaky start, scoring 286 and 288 as a team in the first two rounds. In the third round, Iowa State finished phenomenally, tallying a team total of 277.

This score put the Cyclones only one stroke behind the lowest-scoring team in the third round (San Diego State) by one stroke.

After this event, the Cyclones will not golf again until March 8th at the Spartan Collegiate.
