Iowa State guard Lindell Wigginton told reporters on Monday that he hopes to return “sometime in December” from what the Cyclones are calling a foot strain.

Wigginton is currently in a cast, but will be out of it “soon.” Then, the foot will be put into a boot before undergoing treatment and determining when he feels 100 percent.

“I really just landed wrong on my foot, and then I just felt a pop,” Wigginton said. “I tried to play through it, but I really couldn’t.”

Wigginton said his heel had been feeling sore after practices before the injury occured.

Wigginton, a sophomore guard, led the Cyclones in scoring last season, averaging 16.7 points per game and shooting 40.1 percent from 3-point range.

Starting in his absence for the Cyclones is likely to be freshman Tyrese Haliburton, who started and played all 40 minutes in the team’s win over Missouri on Friday.
