Cyclone Hockey evened the weekend series on Saturday night against Ohio University, winning 5-3.

Ohio got on the board just 19 seconds into the game, with a tally from Thomas Pokorney. Ohio’s Grant Hazel added another goal with just 3:18 left in the period, making the score 2-0.

However, senior forward Aaron Azevedo capitalized late in the period on the man advantage, cutting the deficit to 2-1.

The Cyclones carried momentum from the end of the first period into the second, and tied the game just 44 seconds into the period, courtesy of freshman forward Nick Rogers.

Ohio regained its lead briefly in the second period, but the Cyclones came surging back with two more goals, to take the lead.

Senior forward Trevor Sabo tied the game and Rogers scored the go-ahead goal, his second of the night. The Cyclones took a 4-3 lead into the locker room after the second period.

The Cyclones capitalized on one of their six power play chances, and killed all four of their penalties.

Junior Goaltender Nikita Kozak continued his strong play in the the third, and made multiple big saves late in the game to keep the score 4-3 in favor of the Cyclones.

Senior forward Tony Uglem sealed the deal with an empty-netter, making the final score 5-3.
