The conference series has been a whirlwind of hardships for the Cyclones as they remain 0-6-1 in conference matches. But, the Cyclones come home once again to face No.23 Texas.

According to head coach Matt Fannon, their losing streak is caused by all the opportunities that were missed during the game.

“Every change we’ve had to do something right has gone wrong, but that’s sport,” Fannon said emotionally.

However, the team remains hopeful that they will be able to prove themselves in the face of adversity. As Fannon mentioned, the Cyclones need to outmatch the Longhorns to be able to move forward to the Big 12 championship.

Hosting No. 23 Texas won’t be an easy task, as Iowa State is expecting Texas to bring forward their best game as they are leading the league. In order for this match to turn into a victory, the defense will need to work together to dominate the field.

“We’ve all have to be on the same page; we have to dominate the one-on-one battles,” Fannon said. “Collectively we have all the pieces. They just have to work together, and we would have a shot.”

Iowa State will face Texas at 6 p.m. Thursday in Ames. This match will also be streamed live on ESPN+.
