The two biggest movies of the summer open in theaters over the next three weeks.
“The Odyssey,” Christopher Nolan’s next film, comes to theaters July 17.
This is one of the most anticipated films of the year, as it is Nolan’s next film after his award-winning “Oppenheimer.”
Based on the renowned poem by Homer, “The Odyssey” follows a king named Odysseus as he tries to return home to his wife and son after the Trojan War.
“The Odyssey” features a who’s who of Hollywood actors, with an A-list cast: Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson and the list goes on.
What is most exciting about “The Odyssey” is seeing Nolan’s use of brand-new technology. The film will use brand-new IMAX cameras, and seeing how Nolan uses them should be incredible.
“The Odyssey” opens everywhere July 17.
“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” swings into theaters July 31. The plot has been kept relatively under wraps, but it looks like it will be featuring Peter Parker undergoing some sort of transformation. As this happens, a new villain descends upon New York.
What is interesting about this film is that it is the film right before “Avengers: Doomsday,” and it has been five years since Holland’s Spider-Man was on screens.
This new film also features director Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.” This is exciting because the action in that film is great, so seeing him handle Spider-Man should be really exciting.
“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” also has a star-studded cast, with Tom Holland and Zendaya also starring in this, along with Sadie Sink, Mark Ruffalo, and Jon Bernthal.
Both these films will be the last big summer action blockbusters we get for the remainder of the year.
