Hinterland Music Festival is less than a month away. It’s time to catch up with your favorite artists and listen to some new music.
This four-day music festival in St. Charles, Iowa, has everything from K-pop to Rock and Roll. From July 30 to Aug. 3, a variety of artists with unique sounds have setlists designed to blow the crowd away.
Here is a preview of some of the artists Hinterland is bringing to Iowa, from the headliners to the openers.
Thursday, July 30
Thursday’s headliner is KATSEYE, a fierce K-pop girl group. They released their first single, “Debut,” in 2024 and have only grown from there. They were nominated and performed at the 2026 Grammys. Their discography consists of two EPs and various singles. You may have seen KATSEYE in Gap’s viral “Better in Denim” campaign dancing to Kelis’s “Milkshake.”
Beabadoobee started making music as a coping method after she was expelled from school. Now she’s an indie music artist with three successful albums. She performed at Coachella and Glastonbury and opened for Taylor Swift on the Eras Tour.
Frost Children, a sibling duo from St. Louis, has six albums and six EPs. Although they are a pop group, they take influence from emo, punk rock and meme culture.
Oklou’s music background consists of classical piano and cello. After falling in love with electronic production, she developed a unique blend of knowledge that enables her to produce futuristic sounds with complex compositions. Oklou is known for her stunning Tiny Desk performance.
Pixel Grip is known for their dark, moody sound and high-energy live performances. They use synth-pop and EBM to create danceable, immersive music.
Friday, July 31
Headlining on Friday is Lorde, who needs no introduction. Her most recent album, “Virgin,” debuted at #1 in the UK and #2 on the Billboard 200 in 2025. And she has been continuously influential in today’s pop music.
Snow Strippers debuted in 2021 and have sold out shows across North America and Europe. Their EDM music blends witch house, hyperpop and techno. Their unique style has produced mixed reviews of their music capabilities.
Paris Paloma is known for her honesty and her call to action against harmful patriarchal norms. Her big break came from her single “Labour,” which shines a light on women’s invisible emotional labor. She emphasizes creating fashion that makes a statement, alongside her impactful lyrics.
Ninajirachi is an Australian EDM artist. She’s made appearances at Lollapalooza and Laneway. She’s known for her “girl EDM,” which has now become a symbol and catchphrase among her fanbase.
Leslie & The LY’s puts Las Vegas on Midwest stages. This trio originated in Ames, Iowa, as open-mic performers. Leslie Hall, affectionately known as Mother Gem, composes all of the band’s music.
Saturday, August 1
Mumford & Sons is set to headline Saturday. This London-based group has seen its fair share of success with festivals, Grammys and record-setting. Their upcoming album, produced by Aaron Dessner, features artists such as Hozier and Gracie Abrams.
Jessie Murph released her debut album, “That Ain’t No Man That’s the Devil,” in 2024, and since then has seen only success. She had a sold-out global tour in 2024, released her sophomore album “Sex Hysteria,” was nominated for various awards, and she’s back on another sold-out tour. She’s known for her raw, brutally honest lyrics that make her stand out against the pop scene today.
CMAT is an Irish singer/songwriter with three successful albums. Her songs have gotten traction online, sparking trends. She wrote her breakout song, “I Wanna Be a Cowboy, Baby!” in 20 minutes, and her newest album, “Euro Country,” debuted at number two in the UK.
The Brook & The Bluff are bringing rock-and-roll roots to Hinterland. Inspired by The Eagles, Creedence and Petty, they are known for bringing insane energy to their live performances.
Sunday, August 2
Headlining the last day of Hinterland is Kali Uchis, an R&B singer-songwriter who originally planned to be a movie director but found herself writing poetry and ended up with a mixtape. The rest is history. She’s performed with Lana Del Rey and collaborated with Mac Miller.
Geese is inspired by classic rock. Their latest album consists of screeching guitars, garage riffs, Ukrainian choir samples and pulsing drum machines. After several members left to attend school, their self-released album gained attention from record labels, bringing the band back together. Now they have four studio albums with the genres of indie rock, punk and rock.
Audrey Hobert is known for her honest lyrics about love and self-image. She is known for her close friendship with Gracie Abrams and her work on her album. Since then, she’s released a highly successful debut album, “Who’s the Clown?” at 26 years old.
Haute and Freddy is an alternative pop duo that uses carnival aesthetics. Their fanbase is devoted, with fans creating their own lingo and crafting their own jester hats for shows. Their music comes from their love of theater, obscure synths and underground club culture.
Whether you listen to EDM, rock and roll, or just classic pop, these artists have music for all ears. They’ll all be together at Hinterland for a weekend of pop of every kind.
