Cyclone Hockey is coming off a tough weekend that saw them drop two games to the No. 2 Lindenwood Lions, where they lost 5-1 on Saturday and 7-3 on Sunday. The Cyclones are preparing for this weekend, where they will have their plates full.

Iowa State returns home, after playing the No. 2 team in the nation, to play another series of league games against the newly ranked No. 3 team in the nation, the Ohio University Bobcats.

“I think it’s really good to be challenged by some of the best teams in the nation with Lindenwood being No. 2 and Ohio No. 3,” said senior forward Tony Uglem, “Having that back-to-back weekends really kind of gets you ready for what you’ll have to do at nationals and towards the end of the season.”

The Bobcats are coming off a successful weekend where they swept Eastern Michigan University. The Bobcats hold an undefeated record at 6-0 and moved up from being ranked No. 4 to ranking No. 3 in the current ACHA Men’s Division I rankings. Iowa State dropped from No. 8 to No. 10 after suffering the two losses to Lindenwood.

Despite the games against Lindenwood not going as planned, its aided the Cyclones as they prepare for Ohio.

“Now we know what to expect, the young guys know how good this league is,” said senior forward Adam Alcott, “We know they’re a pretty similar team, they’re gunna play fast, they’re gunna play run-and-gun, they’re gunna try to transition quick on us just like Lindenwood did.”

The Cyclones look to this weekend in hopes of grabbing both wins against Ohio as they progress through their schedule.

“We’re going to have a pretty good idea who we are after this,” said coach and general manager Jason Fairman.

Both games against Ohio will be played at the Ames/ISU Ice Arena on Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
