Cyclone Hockey hit the ice on Friday night in a 4-1 loss against the No. 3 Ohio Bobcats. It was the first of two home games against the Bobcats.

Ohio’s Scott Bagby got the game started with a goal 5:10 into the first period, giving the Bobcats an early 1-0 lead.

Tough defense from both sides led to Ohio maintaining the 1-0 going into the first intermission.

Both defenses held the opposing offense quiet to start the second period. It was Ohio’s Matt Rudin that broke the silence with a goal at the 11:57 mark, increasing the Ohio lead to 2-0.

Much like the first period, neither team was able to find the back of the net for the remainder of the second period, despite multiple scoring opportunities.

Ohio tacked on their third goal of the night at the 12:02 mark in the third. Ohio’s Drew Magyar would find the back of the net a minute later to give Ohio a 4-0 lead.

Iowa State took advantage of a late power play to score their first and only goal of the night, courtesy of senior forward Aaron Azevedo.

The Cyclones faces off against Ohio again at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Ames/ISU Ice Arena.
