Your guide to celebrating galentine’s day
Feb. 14 may be for celebrating your sweetheart, but the day before is strictly reserved for Galentine’s Day. The holiday, conceived from a 2010 “Parks and Recreation” episode, has inspired women for the past decade to gather and honor the power of female friendship.
Whether you’re looking to watch rom-coms on the couch or hit the town, The Iowa State Daily has compiled a list of ideas to inspire your Galentine’s Day plans.
Brunch
In classic “Parks and Recreation” fashion, getting brunch is a staple in your Valentine’s Day plans. Whether you go out to a restaurant or spend the morning cooking together, many people love an excuse for mimosas and heart-shaped waffles.
Staying In
Does your girl group love to relax? If your ideal time with friends consists of unwinding on the couch, consider watching a sappy rom-com or binging your favorite TV show. From “How to Lose a Guy in Ten Days” to “Mamma Mia!,” there are plenty of options to keep the night going. If you want to be extra, start the night by making a heart-shaped pizza. Not only is it adorable, but it is also a delicious meal to add to your night.
Night Out
Gather your girls and unwind from the week by making festive cocktails together. You could keep it simple by getting a bottle of rosé or go the extra mile by adding edible glitter and champagne flutes to your favorite drink.
Baking Day
From heart-shaped cakes to cupcakes accompanied with pink frosting and strawberries, there’s an endless combination of sweet treats to make with friends. To add to the fun, consider having a decorating competition. Regardless of the outcome, everyone ends up a winner when chocolate and candy are involved.
Spa Night
Or you can use the day as an excuse to lounge with friends and pamper yourself. Throw on your comfiest clothes and spend the day focusing on feeling your best. From face masks to mani-pedis, there are endless ways to unwind.
