Iowa State track and field is getting ready to host the Iowa State Classic. The one-day event will be held Saturday in Ames at Lied Recreation Center.
The Cyclones will look to bounce back after a tough meet in Arkansas. The distance runners were a big bright spot led by their performance in the 3,000 meter, the mile and the 800.
One of the brightest spots for the Cyclones this season has been the throwers on the men’s and women’s sides. The throwers have been dominant this year but had a down meet last week. They hope to bounce back in a big way Saturday.
The Iowa State Classic will feature a lot of different teams but the main ones to watch out for will be the Drake Bulldogs and the Northern Iowa Panthers. Both Drake and UNI have competed at least twice already in the season. Iowa State has bested both schools in most of the events in the meets, but UNI and Drake will be looking for a little bit of revenge Saturday.
