Iowa State football added its 21st commitment to the class of 2019 with cornerback Virdel Edwards. Edwards announced his decision on Twitter.

Edwards will bring size to future Cyclone teams. The Plano, Texas, native is listed at 6-foot-1 and 185-pounds.

The cornerback is rated as a three-star prospect according to 247Sports.com’s composite rankings. He’s also the 162nd ranked cornerback and 214th ranked Texan.

Iowa State’s addition is a product of the future of the Cyclone roster. Iowa State’s current starting cornerbacks — Brian Peavy and D’Andre Payne — are seniors this season.

Prior to Edwards’ commitment, Iowa State’s most recent commitment was another cornerback. Kym-Mani King pledged his commitment to the Cyclones on Sept. 5.
