The Cyclones continued their performances in the Drake Relays on Thursday with the women’s heptathlon. To go along with the women’s heptathlon, the Cyclones also had athletes in the women’s 800-meter and the women’s 10,000-meter.
In the women’s 10,000-meter, Iowa State senior Dana Feyen won the event with a time of 33:51.54.
Following a strong performance on the first day of the women’s heptathlon, the three Iowa State athletes had mixed results on the final day of the competition.
Kailynn Gubbels placed 16th after showing out in Wednesday’s action, but slowed down Thursday. Gubbels placed seventh in the javelin throw with a toss of 32.82 meters.
Kiersten Fisher placed fifth in the heptathlon long jump with a jump of 5.66 meters and followed up that performance with a 12th-place finish in the javelin throw with a 30.29-meter toss.
Behind Fisher was Sydney Willits, who only competed in the long jump and won the event with a jump of 6.26 meters.
In the women’s 800-meter run, Kaia Holtkamp had the best finish of any Cyclone. Holtkamp placed 15th with a time of 2:13.59, and behind was freshman Camryn Hubbard who placed 18th with a time of 2:13.93.
The Drake Relays continue Friday and Saturday at Drake Stadium in Des Mones, Iowa, where more Cyclones will look for success on the Blue Oval.
