The “Tour The World: Where Engineers Study Abroad” fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Student Innovation Center.
According to the College of Engineering website, the study abroad fair is an alternative brand-new, peer-to-peer format. The programs will be represented by their peers who have participated in the program previously through posters.
According to the website, attending Tour The World is “an excellent way for engineers to learn about the many possibilities for international education.”
Shannon Miner, the assistant director of student services for Engineering Student Services, stated the fair will feature various information and resources for students.
“At Tour The World, learn more about how study abroad can work toward graduation, be affordable, and in some cases be cost saving for [a] student, and scheduling,” Miner said.
Students also have the opportunity to study abroad and work a summer internship.
Miner said the fair would be staffed with study abroad advisors at tables centered around a variety of topics such as study abroad programs, selecting a program, how to apply and how to afford study abroad.
Miner also cited Octavia Grimes’ experience, a specific student who studied abroad in two different study abroad programs and will speak to students Wednesday.
“I studied abroad twice, once in Aachen, Germany, in 2023, and another time in Turin, Italy, in 2024,” Grimes, a senior studying industrial engineering, said. “I enjoy being able to promote study abroad on campus because I had such an amazing experience myself when I studied abroad. I want to introduce the idea to people that studying abroad won’t push your graduation back and is affordable.”
A total of 34 engineers will highlight their experiences around the world at the fair and attendance is free. The first 700 engineering students will be offered free bubble tea/juice.
The fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday on the first floor of the Student Innovation Center. For more information, visit the College of Engineering website.
