Student Government approved their priorities and criteria document, the first step to their annual allocations process.
The priorities and criteria document was tabled last week and was brought back to the Senate with no changes.
“The fact that there is no changes to this document does not reflect that we didn’t put work in,” Sen. Jake Snyder, a senior in public relations, said. “The meeting was extremely long, and we did go over every concern. So I just want to reiterate I am putting my support behind this bill despite my earlier tabling.”
The bill passed by 28-0-4.
The Senate also adopted their fiscal year 2025-26 Analysis of Social Services Evaluation Team (ASSET) allocations for nonprofit organizations in Story County.
ASSET funds are decided by a collaborative evaluation process with the Senate, the city of Ames, Story County and United Way. Key agencies receiving ASSET funds include YSS, NAMI and ACCESS which all provide vital services for the Ames community.
Ren Moyer was sworn in as an IRHA senator and was also seated on the rules committee.
“Dorms and dining halls aren’t just places to sleep and eat,” Moyer said. “They’re the backbone of campus culture. They’re where friendships are formed, support systems are built and where memories are made.”
In addition, the following Senators were seated on committees:
- Sen. Ryker Markus, a first-year in agriculture and life sciences education, sat on the finance committee.
- Sen. Justin Moran, a junior in computer science, sat on the local affairs committee.
- Sen. Mkpe Kekung, a first-year graduate student majoring in mechanical engineering, sat on the health and wellness committee.
