The Cyclones will split up this Friday and Saturday and head to three different meets.
Iowa State will compete in the Iowa Open in Iowa City and the Arkansas Qualifier in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on Friday. Some will also head to South Bend, Indiana, to compete in the Alex Wilson Invitational on Saturday.
The Cyclones heading to Iowa City will be met with tough competition. The field will be filled with teams from all over the state of Iowa.
The host team, the Iowa Hawkeyes men’s team, is now ranked No. 23 in the nation according to the USTFCCCA rankings and will push the Cyclones. Another team Iowa State will have to look out for is the Northern Iowa Panthers. Other teams that will be competing are the Drake Bulldogs and Coe College.
Iowa State will also send some athletes down to Fayetteville, Arkansas, for the third time this season to compete in the Arkansas Qualifier. The Cyclones will once again match up with the host team, the Arkansas Razorbacks.
Arkansas is currently the No. 1 team in the nation, according to the USTFCCCA rankings. The Cyclones will also have to battle against good teams such as Northern Colorado.
The final meet this weekend that will see some Cyclones attend is the Alex Wilson Invitational at Notre Dame. The Cyclones will also face very stout competition in South Bend against the host team Notre Dame, as well as the Ole Miss Rebels.
The Rebels are currently ranked No. 16 in this week’s USTFCCCA rankings. Iowa will also send some athletes to this meet that the Cyclones will have to look out for.
The Iowa Open and Arkansas Qualifier are this Friday, while the Alex Wilson Invitational takes place on Saturday.
