The Iowa State track and field team heads to Lubbock, Texas, to compete in the Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday and Saturday.
The Cyclones had a strong showing last week in three different meets to close out the regular season in Iowa City, Iowa, Fayetteville, Arkansas and South Bend, Indiana. Multiple Cyclones set new season and personal bests last week.
Iowa State will look to improve on the success it found last week in Lubbock as they start the postseason. As expected, the Big 12 Championship has a very stacked field of teams, from No. 4 Texas Tech, No. 14 Oklahoma State, No. 21 Cincinnati and No. 25 Baylor according to the USTFCCCA on the men’s side.
On the women’s side, the Cyclones will have to contend with No. 2 BYU, No. 4 Texas Tech, No. 15 Baylor and No. 23 TCU.
The Cyclones have experience versus tough teams, as they have competed against multiple ranked teams just last week and throughout the season. Iowa State has won events in those meets, and it will just need to execute over the weekend.
The Big 12 Championships will begin Friday and conclude Saturday in Lubbock.
