Bridget Good graduated from Boone High School in 2016 and attended Iowa State to study apparel merchandising.
Good was involved at Iowa State, participating in The Fashion Show held annually in Stephens Auditorium and modeling in the show for three years. She was offered an internship in 2019 for celebrity stylist Micaela Erlanger. Good then had the opportunity to style stars like Lucy Hale and others.
“At the internship, I worked five days a week from nine to five,” Good said in an email to the Daily. “Alongside five other interns, we were responsible for every single clothing item that came in and out of the studio.”
Although this opportunity was amazing for Good, she still felt like something was missing. She missed the community and small-town feel of Ames.
She knew she wanted to return to Iowa but was not sure where in Iowa until she participated in a holiday pop-up event in downtown Ames and fell in love with the space.
“I always have wanted a storefront, I just wasn’t sure when the right time would come,” Good said.
Good then decided to settle down in Ames and open her own brick-and-mortar store downtown. Her store aims to sell clothing for a wide range of clients.
Good’s store “b.e.good” is modeled after her nickname in high school. Friends would call her “be good” because her middle name is Elizabeth. This is how she got the idea to call her store b.e.good.
Although her business is standing strong right now, it was not always that way. Good got her start at the store Modern Dress in Boone and worked there from when she was 16 and continued after she graduated college. This is how Good got a grasp on how small businesses operate.
Good was 22 when the COVID-19 pandemic caused chaos among small businesses in Iowa. To combat this, Good decided to switch over to a mobile and online store.
Good took her mobile store all over. She was mostly in Iowa but also got to participate in Market for Makers in Houston, Texas, and Chip and Joanna Gaines’ Silobration in Waco, Texas.
“The Ames community is so supportive and I’m happy to bring a shop where women of all ages can shop,” Good said.
Good plans to continue her mobile boutique while also running her permanent store in Ames. b.e.good is located at 301 Main St., Suite 108.
