No. 65 Iowa State lost 4-0 to No. 19 Oklahoma State at home Sunday afternoon. The Cyclones close the regular season with an 11-10 overall record and a 5-8 conference record.
The Cowgirls added another win to their all-time record against Iowa State. With the win, the record stands at 41-1 in favor of Oklahoma State.
Oklahoma State’s Kylie Collins and Marcela Lopez were the first winners of the afternoon. They beat freshmen Julia Camblor and Mari Paz Alberto Vilar 6-1 on court No. 2.
The No. 9-ranked doubles pairing, Anastasiya Komar and Rose Marie Nijkamp, clinched the doubles point for the Cowgirls. They topped senior Anna Supapitch Kuearum and freshman Cristina Ramos Sierra 6-3 on court No. 1.
Oklahoma State’s momentum continued into the singles matches. No. 70-ranked Gracie Epps got the Cowgirls their first singles win of the afternoon. Epps beat freshman Suzanie Pretorius 6-3, 6-1 on court No. 5.
No. 65 Komar battled back for Oklahoma State’s second singles win after dropping the first set to Camblor. Komar defeated Camblor 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 on court No. 2.
No. 121 Nijkamp, in similar fashion to Komar, came back from being down to get the third and final singles win of the afternoon for the Cowgirls. Nijkamp beat Ramos Sierra 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 on court No. 4.
With the regular season complete, the Cyclones now shift their attention to the Big 12 Championship, in hopes of claiming their first in school history.
Iowa State faces Colorado at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Waco, Texas, for the first round of the Big 12 Tournament.
