Iowa State advanced to the NCAA Championships after a third-place finish in the Regional meet. The Cyclones beat two teams ranked higher than themselves, along with seven other schools, to lock down a spot in the NCAA women’s golf Championship.
This will be the second time Iowa State will participate in the NCAA Championship. The No. 30 Cyclones were led by a three-way tie for best on the team. Juniors Pammy Chookaew and Karisa Chul-Ak-Sorn and sophomore Keeley Marx all shot two-over-par.
The trio tied for eighth position. Tied for 19th was freshman Nichakorn Pinprayoon, shooting five-over-par. Freshman Alexandra Vidal finished tied for 51st with a +16 total.
Round by Round
Round 1: The Cyclones took control of third place after day one. An interesting scoring progression for Iowa State had all golfers shoot one shot better than the next. Chookaew led at one-over (73).
Round 2: Both Marx and Pinprayoon shot three-over on day two, this being the best scores for the Cyclones this round. Chookaew still led individually at five-over. The Cyclones were still tied for third place.
Round 3: After the last round, Iowa State took sole possession of third place, thanks to three-under-par days from Chookaew and Pinprayoon, four-under from Marx and a six-under for Chul-Ak-Sorn. Vidal tied her day one total of four-over-par to round out the group.

The NCAA Championships will be held May 16 to 21 in Carlsbad, California. The Cyclones will have just over a week to prepare for what will likely be an intense and incredible tournament.
