Cyclone men’s golf returns to the links Sunday at the Gopher Invitational, opening the 2025–26 season with high expectations after winning the event last year.
The field consists of teams from Northern Illinois, Nebraska, Little Rock, West Virginia, Rutgers, Louisville, Texas A&M, Miami (OH), Augusta, South Carolina, Minnesota, Furman, Wisconsin, Marquette and St. Thomas (MN).
The event, hosted by the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers, will take place at Windsong Farm in Independence, Minnesota. Located 3.5 hours north of Ames, the John Fought design is a par-71 layout that stretches 7,346 yards. The course is one of Minnesota’s top golf clubs and was founded in 2003, with major course improvements completed in 2015.
The team is led by senior Paul Beauvy, who came off an impressive 2024-25 campaign. Beauvy qualified for an NCAA Regional, led the team in scoring at the Big 12 Tournament and earned a spot on the PING All-Central Region Team.
Beauvy shot a three-round 214 to tie for ninth at last season’s Gopher Invitational. The team also brought on two freshmen: Julian Geerebaert from Knokke-Heist, Belgium, and Jesse Trembath from Melbourne, Australia.
Iowa State head coach Andrew Tank enters his sixth season with the Cyclones, leading a program that has captured 15 tournament victories. Including three titles last season, while making six NCAA Regional appearances and three NCAA Championship trips with top-25 national finishes in 2014, 2017, and 2018.
Under Tank, the Cyclones have produced four All-Americans (Nate McCoy, Scott Fernandez, Nick Voke and Tripp Kinney), three All-Big 12 performers and multiple NCAA individual qualifiers.
His players have earned Big 12 All-Tournament honors nine times, combined for 17 individual medalists and helped secure 12 tournament titles, overall cementing Iowa State’s standing as a program that consistently develops talent and competes on the national stage.
Last year, Iowa State started the year hot by winning the Gopher Invitational with a team score of 860, beating the Gophers on their own turf by two strokes.
The men will tee off for 36 holes Sunday and then turn around for 18 holes Monday.
